Client:
Hlynur Hallsson is a contemporary artist and part-time politician living in Akureyri, Iceland.
Idea:
The site hallsson.de has been running for more than a decade and was initially build using a content-managing system from the 20. century. That meant that it was constructed with over a thousand .gif files to style text and lists, since it was the easiest way at the age. In time the site got bigger and the sub-pages started growing to a number close to 300, making the sites content very inaccessible.
In the summer of 2011 Hlynur was looking for a solution. My aim was to draw the content together by a considerate amount as well as creating a new design and layout for the whole site. The new version is build on a vertically sliding content-box and a fixed 7-category menu. Each category has a slightly different layout while keeping a strong connection to the overall design.
The frontpage shows Hlynur's latest exhibition. At the top right of each page is a link back to the beginning.
The almost text-only CV was fitted into the design by using varying widths of each text-box.
The former Blatt-Blað page, consisting of one sub-page for for each issue, was merged into a single sliding page.
The Projects page is the most extensive one, featuring six sub-page and a custom content switcher of the far right on some.
